True Slavic Femininity vs Western Feminism

I studied in women’s college, where the ideology of feminism dominated. So, I think that girl is not only a family and children. She can present by herself something more. She must be regarded primarily as a person.  Jessica, 29 years old.

This is an extract from an interview of the young girl Jessica who was working as a volunteer in Donetsk region. I focused my attention on this part of Jessica’s interview as I think many Slavic women will find this statement rather unusual and strange. I understand that feminism ideology influenced girl’s way of thinking very much. However, I wonder how it is possible to reject women’s destination in this world. Undoubtedly, this is a good example of different way of thinking of Western and Ukrainian/Russian women.

Slavic women are namely those magnificent creatures who can have family, children, and to be bright individuals as well. Slavic women can combine these, as many western women think, incompatible things. There are hundreds examples when Russian or Ukrainian women have good carriers, families, and children. Thus, for example, the most famous star family with many children is the family of popular Russian singer Valeria and her husband. Valeria has 3 children from previous marriage and her husband-producer Iosif Prigozhin has 3 children from previous relationships as well.

The world-famous top model Natalia Vodianova announced that she is preparing to become a mother for the fourth time. 28 years old Natasha, who grew up in a large family, gave a birth to her first son from Lord Justin Trevor Berkeley Portman in 19 years. Then, Vodianova became the mother of two more children: in 2006, she gave birth to a daughter, Neva, and in 2007, she gave birth to another little son Victor. After the birth of her son in 2007, Vodianova stated that she is not ready to stop. Vodianova has reached all imaginable heights in the modeling business. Thus, her photo decorated the cover of the prestigious Vogue. She demonstrated the best brands of clothes. She was the face of Gucci and the favorite person of Calvin Klein. Natalia Vodianova amassed a sizable fortune that is more than $ 5 million. Today, she is one of the richest women in England.

Kateryna Yushchenko is a wife of ex-president of Ukraine Viktora Yushchenko. They have three children: son and two daughters. Besides, Viktor Yushchenko has also two more adult children from previous marriage, who lived with them before as well.

Lilia Podkopayeva is not only the winner in the European Championships, Worlds, and the Olympics. She is a great mother and the most famous woman in Ukraine who is publicly addressing the issue of adoption. When she adopted her son Vadim, adoption has tripled in Ukraine! After adoption, she gave a birth to her daughter. Lilia Podkopayeva is the owner of 45 gold, 21 silver, and 14 bronze medals.

Vera Brechneva is Russian-Ukrainian singer, television anchorwoman, and former soloist of the Russian-Ukrainian female pop group “VIA Gra”. In 2007, Vera Brezhneva was named the sexiest woman by a vote of readers of the male magazine «Maxim». Brezhneva is the founder and president of the All-Ukrainian Charitable Foundation “Ray of faith” (in Russian faith is read like “vera”).

So, I wonder, is it really impossible to have a family with the children and to be a fascinating personality?
